Orach

This year, I had the urge to grow some orach.  It is a Eurasian plant in the amaranth family, Atriplex hortensis and tastes like spinach.  It is also supposedly more tolerant of heat and slower to bolt in hot weather.  I ordered a packet of seeds from Baker Creek and tried starting a few earlier this month.  They did germinate, but not as well as I had hoped.  This weekend, I will plant some seeds directly in one of the garden beds to see if they do any better outside.

The variety I am growing is Aurora Mixed, from Baker Creek and I was particularly drawn to the attractive leaves.
