Traps, Cages, Marigolds, and Orach

It’s a nice and sunny day here so I took advantage of it. I direct-sowed some marigold and Orach seeds as well as potted lemon thyme and lemon balm. We also got the tomato supports put back up. I had enough nylon mesh for one span and will use nylon twine for the others.

I have some tomato cages that I have collected over the last couple of years and I decided to use them for the sugar snap peas that I planted in February. I’ll reuse them for cucumbers and maybe determinate tomatoes later next month.

I also put out two Japanese beetle traps to help control those pests. I’ve never used them before so this will be a learning experience for me.

I stopped by Dan West this morning and picked up some neem oil to use for general pest control.

I applied some Garden-Tone to the potatoes, peas and onions in the pots and raised beds today. I also added some mushroom compost to the beds.

It’s a good day to be outside in the garden.
